dice Jacopo.
difficile e nello stesso tempo vivace, diciamo che all’età
dagli zii in America.
cominciare a ricrearla artificialmente. Tornato in Italia mi feci
conoscevamo Marco sin dall’infanzia, lui suonava già
disordinato, incasinato proprio come noi.
All’attivo abbiamo 2 CD (Broken glass e Give us a Chance),
più varie compilations, siamo apparsi 2 volte sulle televisioni
4000 bands per suonare in diretta televisiva all I TIm Tour Festival),

"SCRAMBLE" is composed of: Jacopo Riva (leader of the band, lead guitar, song writer and music arrangements), Matteo Riva (Bass Guitar), Marco DÕandrea (Drums). The band was formed in 1999 in a small village in the province of Como in northern Italy.
“In 1995 I spent several months in California with family relatives, and it is there that my passion for music, and in particular punkrock, began”, says Jacopo.
“I was a rather introverted young boy, yet lively. At age 14 I had the usual problems that any teenager goes through; I was confused and didn’t know what avenue I wanted to take in life. School that year was not the best. The interaction with my loved ones seemed rather difficult; my parents were preoccupied for my future. And it was at that point that my father decided to send me for a few months to the U.S. to California, in the hope that I would acquire some kind of balance, and could find a new avenue in life to love and become passionate about. Today, I really thank my father for listening to his insight and following through withÊ it, because his decision was a catalyst for finding this new love and passion, MUSIC. Also I thank him for sending me at a very young age to take music and piano lessons; little did I know that such skill would come in handy one day.
“My younger Californian cousin one day asked me, “Hey Jake!” (short for Jacopo) “listen to this CD, itÕs a California band; they play Punk music; their name is Green Day; come on, listen to it!” I answered, “I don’t think so; it is probably one of those stupid bands. Listen to it yourself”, and I went my own way into my bedroom next to his. The sound of the loud music was impossible to ignore and somehow it really touched me. That record changed me profoundly; I was hooked, and its music totally influenced me to the point I began an earnest exploration of punkrock music. Back in Italy I deepened my interest in punk music, starting from the classical punk bands such as “Ramones” and “Sex Pistols”, to “Nofx”, “Pennywise” and others. A few of my favorites band are “No Use For a Name”, “Teen Idols”, and “Vandals”. I began studying guitar with the objective in mind that I would start a punk band as soon as I was ready. My brother Matteo also became influenced by punk music and started at the same time with bass guitar. It was then easy to find a drummer. Marco, a friend from early childhood, and also my neighbor, was already playing for a band, but it took nothing to convince him to join us and to give life to our band, which had been my dream, and of course theirs too.
“The name of the band came about in a peculiar way. I had no idea what name to give the band, but I knew it had to be an unusual name. One day while seated on the sofa, I began wondering about an evening when my aunt from California was cooking eggs; she said, “this style of cooking eggs, in English, is called scrambled eggs”. That word rolled around in my mind for such a long time that finally I decided to call the band “SCRAMBLE”; in a way it seemed to portray the state of consciousness we had at the time: beaten, untidy, confused, messy.”
Currently we have to our credit, two CD’s “Broken Glass” and “Give Us a Chance”, in addition to a great variety of compilations. We have been broadcast twice on the Swiss National Television Stations, and two times on Rock Television in Italy. Our most important recognition was to be chosen among 4000 bands to play live in the I -TIM tour Festival in Italy, and as a result we were selected as back up together three other bands, for the famous group of the SYMPLY RED, with a crowd of thousands of people. We have won several musical awards between the years 2000 - 2003; one important award was to record two of our musical selections in the studios of “RETE 3” a very popular radio station of the Italian part of Switzerland, that broadcast also in northern Italy. We have successfully performed at live concerts in front of other very large crowds, such as in Tesserete, Switzerland at a festival called “Open Air, Vola Bas” as back up for a very renowned Swiss music band. Another performance was in Lugano, Switzerland during an evening live concert called “Palco I Giovani”; we were selected as the second best group of the festival from 30 bands. We have performed in clubs as well as music bars.
The kind of punk music we perform is more of a melodic type. The musical arrangement is pretty simple and basic, but very well structured. The text speaks of our everyday life, at times very direct, sometimes raw and bitter, but at the same time very deep and profound. Our text touches on various topics ranging from naivite to the transformation of music into poetry.
“SCRAMBLE” is today looking to be launched by a record label that can believe in us, and would like to introduce us to the wider world of music. We realize we have much to offer, and also much to learn too, but we have the courage to meet the challenge and to strive for our own achievement. We just need someone to help and direct us; we will put forth the effort to achieve our dream.
